SPANISH INVASION

In March 16, 1521, the Philipines was discovered by Magellan. Magellan landed in Liwasawa at noon, the people met him at the shore. They didn't understand each other because, the people don't speak spanish. When Magellan landed in Cebu City, Rajah Humabon met him and they had an understanding. The people were baptized. They build churches and that was the start of the Filipino Catholism. Magellan went to visit Mactan and began to Christianize everyone. Lapu-lapu didn't agree so he met him on the shore and told Magellan to go home. Magellan got so mad, and ordered his men to fight. Lapu-lapu is a great warrior told his men to prepare to fight. The battle began at dawn, Bolos and spears versus guns and canons. Magellan got hit in the neck by a spear. He couldn't fight anymore. Lapu-lapu won the battle against Magellan. The spaniards left the island of Mactan after there defeat.
